The institute hosted an educational talk on the topic “The Landscape of Alternative Investments” by Ms. Jo Murphy, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Chartered Alternate Investments Analyst (CAIA) and Mr. Shreekant Daga, Associate Director, CAIA on 17th January 2019.
Ms. Jo Murphy addressed the young gathering and advised them that this was the time for them to develop themselves holistically as job market is changing rapidly and the expectations of the employers are ever increasing. The growing popularity of Hedge Funds, Venture Capital and Private Equity amongst the investor class is making it an opportune time to increase the awareness and command on the Alternate Investment asset class. She had also highlighted the job opportunities in the Risk, Compliance, Due Diligence and Valuation space and the desired hard and soft skill sets from the employees by the employer. She concluded her session by stating that the formula for success was the sum of Intelligence quotient and emotional quotient.
Mr. Shreekant explained the size of the Alternate Investment space in India, the regulatory environment, the curriculum offered by CAIA and the job opportunities available. The session ended on a good note as the students gained insight about the Alternative Investment domain.
