International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2017 to symbolize unity of mind and body, thought and action, a holistic approach to health and well being. Dr. Supriya Bhat, Yoga Practitioner inaugurated the session and explained the philosophy of yoga. She inspired the students and faculty to live by taking inspiration from our Honourable Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi and Former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
Mr. Mandar Marathe, Yoga Trainer, in his session highlighted the importance of practicing yoga in our day to day life for mental and physical health. He made the participants practice some of the yoga and meditation techniques.
Both the speakers appreciated the efforts taken by the Institute to encourage the students and the staff to take part in such programmes which will contribute to peace, harmony and consciousness.
‘Aarambh’ Self Defense Workshop
Social Responsibility Cell organized a Workshop on ‘Self Defense and Fitness’ for its female students on 23rd December 2016 in association with ‘Ground N Pound’. More than 80 students of TIMSR and Thakur College of Science and Commerce participated in the activity. The objective of conducting the workshop was to create awareness about physical fitness and empower women by teaching them self-defense tactics. The facilitators of Ground N Pound also guided students about healthy eating practices and exercising for leading a healthy life.
‘Jagruti’ Clean India Initiative in association with M&M
‘Jagruti’ campaign was launched by the Social Responsibility Cell of TIMSR in Association with Mahindra & Mahindra under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative of Govt. of India. Under this initiative, cleanliness and painting work was carried out at Samatanagar Bus Depot on 26th December 2016. The objective of this drive was to inculcate a sense of social commitment among our students by developing a habit of social service as citizens of the nation. The campaign received an overwhelming response from the students as well as Mahindra & Mahindra employees.
