International Yoga Day
TIMSR celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21, 2019. Ms. Akriti Chabra, Zumba Trainer and Nutritionist and Ms. Surbhi Ghiya, certified Yoga Instructor were invited for the panel discussion on the importance of yoga. They guided that one should maintain a balance between self and environment and the same is necessary for every human being. It was emphasized that suffering comes from stress, anxiety and insomnia which is also due to improper lifestyle and lack of physical exercise. The methods and techniques in yoga help to maintain health and harmony. The session ended up with laughter therapy.
April Cool’ Activity
Social Responsibility Cell (SRC) of TIMSR conducted an activity called “April Cool” on 1st April 2019 at Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali. This initiative was taken to beat the heat by watering the plants and making this Earth “Cool”. Through this activity, TIMSR was able to impart both Social & ethical Values among its students. The students also understood the concept of contribution as a responsible citizen to environmental conservation and sustainability.
Dance Parody on 'Women Empowerment'
On the occasion of ‘Republic Day’, TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell (SRC) organized a Dance Parody on the theme “Women Empowerment” on 26th January, 2019 performed by our students in the presence of Mr. Jitendra Singh, Hon. Trustee of Thakur Education Group (TEG) and staff members of TEG. The performance showcased the life of women serving the nation in challenging positions like ground combat, tank unit & onboard submarines.
Volunteering for Malad Masti
On 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th December 2018, the members of Social Responsibility Cell in collaboration with Mr. Harish Desai, Founder, Benefit Square-NGO participated in Malad Masti - 2018, where we promoted the products made by specially-abled people.
Thinking About Society: Social - Entrepreneurial Values
TIMSR Centre for Creativity and Innovation (TCCI) & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) and Social Responsibility Cell (SRC) of TIMSR conducted an Activity - Thinking About Society: Social - Entrepreneurial Values; which was a School Activity at Samtanagar Municipal School, Kandivali on 28th December 2018, from 11.00 am to 1 pm. Under this activity, few faculty members & students visited the school and educated students on importance of education. Also to make it interesting Paper craft items, Teamwork exercise, Drawing activity, etc; was conducted which enabled students to show their creativity. Through this activity TIMSR was able to impart both Social & Entrepreneurial Values among its students. The students of TIMSR could understand concepts of Social Entrepreneurship, Contribution of Entrepreneur to society, Universal Vales & Human Values.
Digital India - 2018
On 25th November 2018, the team of Social Responsibility Cell visited Damu Nagar, Kandivali (East) to spread awareness among the citizens of Damu Nagar about the usage of Digital Platforms. Digital India initiative helps people connect around the country through technology. Through this, people can handle their financial affairs sitting at home. The other points discussed included capitalizing on freelance work, accessing net banking and handling various kinds of emergency situations.
Communal Harmony Campaign Week and Flag Day
On 22nd November 2018, Social Responsibiltiy Cell spread the message of peace, communal harmony and National integration and collected funds for the rehabilitation of young victims of communal, caste, ethnic, terrorist and any other form of violence/ clashes which fractured social harmony. The emphasis remains on providing assistance to such children for their education and promoting communal harmony and National integration through various kinds of promotional activities.
Awareness Drive on Sanitary-ware
On 28th October 2018, the team of Social Responsibility Cell visited Damu Nagar, Kandivali (East) to interact with women and girls and make them aware about sanitary-ware. The awareness drive on menstrual hygiene and usage of sanitary napkins is virtually absent in rural areas. Poor menstrual hygiene can cause fungal infections, cervical cancer and infertility. By creating enough awareness by SRC team regarding menstrual hygiene's importance and use of sanitary napkins, we try to prevent such chronic diseases from happening in the rural areas.
Tree Plantation on SRC Day
Maharashtra government, under the article 48 (A) of the Directive Principle of State Policy, ran a movement across the state named as GREEN ARMY MAHARASHTRA. On SRC celebration day, 31 August 2018, TIMSR SRC Leaders and Sub Leaders organized a Tree Plantation Drive at Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali and participated in this movement. The aim of this movement is to protect and improve the environment and safeguard the forests and wildlife of the country.
The Social Responsibility Cell conducted the Meraki 2018 - an inter college competition on Social cause. The rationale was that Painting helps us get distracted from our problems; it helps us take anguish out and transform it in something nice. This helps us identify the feelings and increase our expressiveness. Learning how to paint has all the benefits of good entertainment: we laugh, socialize, learn something new, feel motivated to finish what we start, appreciate nature and feel passion for something good. The session was conducted on September 12, 2018.
“MIME on “Road Safety”
MIME was performed by the SRC team at Thakur Education Group, Kandivali, on 15th August 2018. The MIME was performed on theme “Road Safety”. The focus was to educate and sensitize youth to safer and responsible two wheeler riders. This is in keeping with the rising death toll due to road accidents in India. The play was performed in the presence of the Chairman of Thakur Education Group, Mr. V.K. Singh and all the faculty members of Thakur Education Group.
The Social Responsibility Cell took the initiative of creating awareness on Road Safety for MMS & PGDM students. The purpose of conducting the session was to educate and sensitize youth to become safer and responsible two wheeler riders. There was classroom session on safe/defensive driving followed by demonstration by Trainer & an on-wheel assessment on two wheeler simulator for those who know how to ride a bike. The session was conducted on July 21st 2018.
International Yoga Day
TIMSR celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2018 to bring peace, harmony, happiness and success to every participant. Simple yoga asanas were performed by faculty members under collegial tutelage to reinforce the benefits of yoga for physical and mental well-being.
