Digital Learning Solutions (DLS)

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell “Samvedna” in collaboration with Kotak Education Foundation conducted Digital Learning Solutions (DLS) initiative, featuring a Tab Assessment activity tailored for underprivileged and semi-vernacular medium students attending semi-government schools in Mumbai on 6th& 8th February, 2024. Total number of 06 students from MMS Batch 2023-25, Semester II volunteered in six schools across Mumbai. Taking a step into the future of learning by bringing digital revolution straight to the classrooms, we embarked on a journey to empower underprivileged and semi-vernacular medium students with the tools they need to thrive in the digital age.

With a focus on personalized learning and real-time feedback, participants engaged in an immersive educational experience like never before. Each student walked away with not just newfound digital literacy, but also a renewed sense of confidence and possibility.

Umang Program

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell “Samvedna” in collaboration with Kotak Education Foundation conducted Spoken English Program for underprivileged and semi-vernacular medium students of semi-government schools between 8th to 21st February, 2024. Total number of 12 students from MMS, Sem II (Batch 2023-25), volunteered in eight schools across Mumbai.This program was designed to equip native speakers with the art of English speaking and conversation skills, thereby bolstering their confidence. The overarching goal was to immerse participants in an interactive learning environment, fostering not only the enhancement of English language proficiency but also cross-cultural communication skills. Throughout the program, emphasis was placed on honing various facets of communication, including vocabulary enrichment, sharpening listening skills, and developing intercultural competence.

Role Play Activity

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell (SRC Cell) organised a role play activity on Women Empowerment issue. The event was conducted on January 23, 2024 in the Study Skill Centre for students of SRC cell of Sem-I, Batch 2023-2025. The message delivered through the play was on issues such as girls’ education, gender biasness, and eve teasing amongst others. Overall, the students and other dignitaries appreciated the performance and message conveyed through this event.

Equality has no Gender

On 24th January, 2024, TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell (SRC Cell) organised a Poster making competition on the theme “Equality has no Gender” for MMS-Sem-I, Batch 2023-2025. The objective behind this competition was to bring out the creative expression of students and to gauge their knowledge and awareness on the assigned theme. The students enthusiastically displayed their creativity and the winners were judged on the basis of relevance to the theme, Originality, Artistic Composition, Creativity, Message conveyed by the poster and effectiveness in communicating the intended message.

Jyoti Seva Sangh Center for Special Kids

A group of 19 students of MMS (Batch 2023-25) of Social Responsibility Cell “Samvedna” of TIMSR visited Jyoti Seva Sangh center on 7th December 2023, dedicated to providing care and support for special children. The purpose of the visit was to expose students to the challenges faced by differently abled individuals and to foster a sense of social responsibility among them.

Upon arriving, students were welcomed by the staff of Jyoti Seva Sangh and given a brief overview of the organization’s mission, history etc. The students then participated in various activities designed to facilitate interaction with the special children.

Overall, the students’ visit to Jyoti Seva Sangh was a resounding success, achieving its objectives of raising awareness, fostering empathy, and encouraging community engagement.

Visit to Pushpmanohar Old Age home

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell ‘Samvedna’ organized a heart-warming event, that aimed to bring joy and companionship to the elderly residents on “Pushpmanohar Old Age home”, Vasai in Palghar District on 7th December, 2023. Additionally, a grocery donation drive was conducted to provide essential supplies to the home.

During the visit, students engaged in various interactive sessions with the older ones, including storytelling, serving food and music. The grocery drive, organized in conjunction with the visit, witnessed an active participation from MMS students (Batch 2022-24 & 2023-2025) and TIMSR Staff members. The collected items were presented to Old Age home’s representatives as a gesture of support.

The event concluded with the expression of gratitude from both students and the elderly residents. Overall, the event fulfilled the objective of community service and fostered a sense of social responsibility among the students.

National Unity Day

TIMSR’s Student council cell organized a remarkable celebration of Unity Day on 31st October 2023, commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event aimed to promote unity, integrity, and diversity among the students and staff members. The recitation of the Unity pledge served as a powerful reminder of the principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution and the need to uphold them in our daily lives. Overall, the event united students, faculty members and staff, fostering a sense of togetherness and national pride in them.

Cleanliness Drive

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, 12 Students of Semester-I (Batch 2023-2025) and Semester-III (Batch 2022-2024), volunteered from Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research for contributing to the Swachh Bharat Mission to commemorate the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who believed in cleanliness as an essential part of a healthy and harmonious society. The event aimed to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and the spirit of community service among the students.

Students gathered at the Aksa Beach, Malad, Mumbai in the morning and worked together to clean. This included picking up litter, sweeping, and cleaning common areas. They collected garbage, segregated dry and wet wastes and disposed of waste properly. People and children around were motivated by them and joined hands with them in the cleaning.

The cleanliness drive organized on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti was a fitting tribute to the Father of the Nation. It reinforced the values of cleanliness, community service, and environmental responsibility among the students. Such initiatives play a crucial role in building a cleaner and healthier society and contribute to the vision of a “Swachh Bharat.”

The Constitutional Perspective on Human Values

The Electoral Club and Social Responsibility Cell of TIMSR organized a Guest Session on the topic “The Constitutional Perspective on Human Values” on September 04, 2023 for the MMS students, Sem-I, Batch 2023-2025.

The speaker of the session was Ms. Beatrice Fernandes-Transformation Life Coach, and Mind Power Trainer, Potentiara, who explained the constitutional view and the importance of the Human Values. During the event, the students participated enthusiastically. Overall, the session was highly informative and knowledgeable and ended with a Q&A round.

Blood Donation Drive

TIMSR’s SRC cell organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with Thakur College of Science and Commerce (TCSC) on 17th & and 18th of July 2023. A total of 08 students of MMS Semester- II (Batch 2022-2024) volunteered as an organizer for the campaign and also donated blood during the camp. Further they also created an awareness about the shortage of blood and the importance of donating it. Throughout the activity, all the participants were delighted and seemed eager to make a big difference with their small efforts.

Tree Plantation Activity

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched the MeriLiFE movement as a key to combating climate change and promoting plantation. Under this mission, the target of “One Student One Tree” Plantation has been taken by AICTE. To support this cause, Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research too joined the tree plantation movement which took place from 26th July 2023 to 30th July 2023. The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and staff. Fifteen students from the Institute joined the movement and planted trees in their neighborhood. The objective of the event was to promote environmental sustainability and raise an awareness about the importance of preserving our planet’s green cover. Overall, the drive proved to be a sound experience for all the participants.
