Dr. Chitra Gounder is a distinguished academician with over 21 years of experience in postgraduate education and research in the field of Accounting and Finance. She holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance from IIM Mumbai, along with an MBA, M.Phil., and M. Com, bringing a robust academic foundation to her teaching and research endeavours.

Currently serving as a Professor at Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research, Dr. Gounder plays a key role in curriculum design, research supervision, and academic mentorship. She has published research papers in reputed Scopus, ABDC, and UGC CARE-listed journals. Her current research interests include shareholder value creation, bank valuation, market capitalization drivers, financial inclusion, and risk management through derivatives.

Her teaching areas include Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Corporate Finance, International Finance, Taxation, and Financial management. She regularly conducts Faculty Development Programs and is invited as a guest speaker by the Government of Maharashtra, MITCON, and MSME platforms on themes like pricing strategies, entrepreneurship, and financial planning.

Dr. Gounder has contributed to interdisciplinary projects such as a tourism research collaboration with James Cook University, Singapore, and is actively involved in organizing academic events in partnership with academia, industry, NGOs, and global institutions.

Her passion lies in integrating academic research, industry relevance, and technology to advance finance education and institutional excellence.
