Challenges and Opportunities in SMEs

TIMSR’s TCEI Cell organized a Panel Discussion on “Challenges and Opportunities in SMEs” on 13th April 2026, for the students of MMS Semester-II (Batch 2025–27), as part of Business Week. The session provided practical insights into key SME issues, including finance, regulations, digital transformation, competition, innovation, and government support. Panellists shared industry experiences and strategies for sustainable growth. An interactive Question & Answer session encouraged active student participation and critical thinking. The event effectively enhanced understanding of the SME ecosystem and reinforced entrepreneurial awareness through industry-academia engagement.

Nasha Mukti Abhiyaan – Oath Ceremony

As part of TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell– Samvedna, the students of MMS Semester-II (Batch 2025–27) BMS Semester-II (Batch 2025–29) and Semester IV (Batch 2024–28) participated in the “Nasha Mukti Abhiyaan – Oath Ceremony” organized by the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department, Government of Maharashtra on 25th March 2026 at the Gateway of India, Mumbai. The initiative focused on creating awareness about substance abuse and encouraging individuals to commit to a drug-free and healthy lifestyle.

The students actively represented the institute and took part in the oath-taking ceremony. Their involvement provided a valuable opportunity to contribute to a meaningful social cause while reinforcing the importance of responsible behavior and community well-being.
Overall, the participation highlighted the students’ awareness of social issues and reflected their commitment to promoting a healthier and drug-free society.

Financial Literacy Awareness Initiative in collaboration with INSEED NGO

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell–Samvedna, in collaboration with INSEED NGO, conducted a Financial Literacy Awareness Initiative from January to March 2026 for MMS Semester II students (Batch 2025–27). As part of the program, students completed 30 hours of community engagement at Matrubhumi Slum School, Thakur Village.

The initiative focused on educating 8th and 9th standard students on essential financial concepts such as budgeting, savings, needs vs. wants, basic banking, account opening, loans, insurance, scholarships, and government schemes. Sessions were delivered through interactive methods including presentations, videos, storytelling, and activities, ensuring better understanding and engagement. The school students actively participated and showed strong interest, especially in savings and banking topics.

The program not only improved financial awareness among the students but also provided experiential learning for TIMSR students, enhancing their communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills while fostering social responsibility. Overall, the initiative reinforced the importance of early financial education and reflected TIMSR’s commitment to community development.

Slum Upliftment Program in collaboration with INSEED NGO

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell – Samvedna conducted a Slum Upliftment Program in collaboration with INSEED NGO from January to March 2026 for the students of MMS Semester-II (Batch 2025–27). As part of the initiative, students completed 30 hours of community engagement, involving field surveys, data analysis, and community-based interventions at Matrubhumi Slum School and surrounding areas in Thakur Village.
The initiatives included teaching and mentoring sessions, sports activities, career guidance surveys, financial literacy awareness, preparation for school events, and product-making workshops aimed at skill development and community empowerment. Through these projects, students gained hands-on exposure to social realities while developing empathy, leadership, and community engagement skills.

Slum School Teaching Initiative in collaboration with INSEED NGO

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility – Samvedna Cell conducted a community engagement initiative in collaboration with INSEED NGO from January to March 2026 for MMS Semester-II students (Batch 2025–27). As part of the program, students completed 30 hours of community service at Matrubhumi Slum School, Thakur Village.
During the initiative, students engaged with school children through activities such as storytelling, role plays, quizzes, puzzles, English and mathematics learning sessions, digital literacy awareness, traffic rules education, and Vedic mathematics. Sessions on health, hygiene, nutrition, sanitation, sustainability, and career awareness were also conducted to enhance the children’s knowledge and life skills.

The initiative helped school children build confidence and improve communication and learning abilities, while enabling TIMSR students to develop empathy, leadership, teamwork, and a sense of social responsibility. Upon successful completion, participating students were awarded certificates by INSEED NGO in recognition of their contribution.

Computer Distribution Initiative at ZP School, Tanashi, Boisar

Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research’s Social Responsibility Cell (SRC), Samvedna, organized a computer distribution initiative on 20th February 2026 at ZP School, Tanashi, Boisar, to promote digital literacy among students from the Varli and Katkai tribal communities. Desktop computers were donated to strengthen the school’s digital infrastructure and enable access to technology-based education.

The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Chitra Gounder, Mr. Mahindra Daima, and Ms. Kinjal Shah, with technical support from Mr. Biren Mishra, Web Admin & IT In-charge, along with his IT team. MMS Semester-II students (Batch 2025–27) actively contributed to the execution of the activity.

The initiative was well received by the school authorities and students, reflecting TIMSR’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and fostering community development through social responsibility efforts.

Kotak -30 Hours Live Project

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell organized a 30-hour Live Project for the students of MMS, Sem-I (Batch 2025-27) in collaboration with the Kotak Education Foundation from 3rd to 15th December 2025. The initiative provided students with practical exposure to socially impactful projects in areas such as content development, financial processes, program evaluation, and field research related to education and community development. This experiential learning opportunity enabled students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings while enhancing their professional skills and social awareness, reinforcing TIMSR’s commitment to meaningful industry–academia engagement.

Outreach Program at ZP school for Children’s Day

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell (SRC) – Samvedna organized a Children’s Day outreach initiative on 14th November 2025 at ZP School, Tanashi, Boisar, during which SteelCore Water Bottles were distributed to underprivileged students. The initiative aimed at promoting health, hygiene, and sustainable practices among school children while celebrating the spirit of Children’s Day.

The activity was conducted under the guidance and participation of Dr. Chitra Gounder, Professor, TIMSR; Mr. Mahindra Daima, Assistant Professor, TIMSR; and Ms. Kinjal Shah, Assistant Professor, TIMSR. A group of 5 students from MMS Semester I (Batch 2025–27) accompanied the faculty members and actively participated in the outreach initiative.The event was well received by the students and school authorities and reflected TIMSR’s continued commitment towards social responsibility and community engagement.

Session on Human Rights and Values

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell (SRC) – Samvedna and the Women’s Development Cell (WDC) organized sessions on Human Rights and Values for BMS Semester III (Batch 2024–28) on 30th September 2025 by Ms. Shubhangi Nirwan, and for MMS Semester I (Batch 2025–27) on 8th November 2025 by Ms. Shraddha Luniya.

The sessions aimed to enhance students’ understanding of fundamental human rights and societal values such as equality, dignity, respect, and social responsibility. Through interactive discussions and real-life examples, students explored the relevance of these principles in academic, professional, and personal contexts. Emphasis was also placed on gender equality and women’s development as key components of human rights.

Overall, the sessions fostered awareness, empathy, and responsibility among students, encouraging them to uphold these values in their daily lives. They concluded with an open discussion where participants shared reflections and commitments toward promoting a just and inclusive society.

Awareness Session on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell- Samvedna organized an Awareness Session on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for the students of BMS Semester-III (Batch 2024–28) on 3rd October 2025. The session aimed to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness, hygiene and civic responsibility among students.

As part of the initiative, a quiz competition was conducted to engage students and test their knowledge about the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Mr. Sarvendra Singh secured the highest score in the quiz and was awarded with a cash prize in recognition of his achievement. Overall, the event successfully fostered awareness and encouraged students to contribute actively towards maintaining a cleaner and greener environment.

Role Play on Women Empowerment

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell- Samvedna organized a Role Play on Women Empowerment for the students of MMS, Semester-III (Batch 2024–26) and BMS, Semester-III (Batch 2024–28) on 27th September 2025. The activity provided a platform for students to depict real-life scenarios highlighting issues of gender equality, challenges faced by women, and the importance of empowerment in society and workplaces. The role play aimed to foster awareness, empathy, and a sense of responsibility among management students by encouraging them to reflect on women’s rights and equal opportunities.

During the role play, participants also showcased creativity, confidence and critical thinking through their performances, making the event both engaging and impactful. The active involvement of students and faculty members contributed to the success of the event, which truly embodied the spirit of learning with social responsibility. Overall, the initiative inspired participants to recognize the role of youth in driving positive societal change.

Blood Donation Camp

TIMSR’s Social Responsibility Cell-Samvedna organized a Blood Donation Camp on 12th September 2025, in collaboration with the Indian Medical Association, Mumbai-West Branch.
A total of 52 students from MMS Semester-III (Batch 2024–26) and BMS Semester-III (Batch 2024–28) along with 4 staff members, enthusiastically participated in the initiative. The event aimed to spread awareness about the significance of blood donation and to encourage voluntary contribution for this noble cause.
As a token of appreciation and gratitude, all donors were awarded certificates, donor cards, a pen and refreshments. The active involvement of students and staff made the camp a resounding success. Participants demonstrated great enthusiasm and commitment, reflecting the spirit of social responsibility and collective effort to make a positive impact on society.
Poster Making Competition

TIMSR’s SRC-Samvedna cell organized a Poster Making Competition on the theme “Celebrate with Bappa, Celebrate Equality” for the students of MMS Semester-III (Batch 2024-26) and BMS Semester-III (Batch 2024-28) on 4th September 2025. The competition aimed to encourage students to creatively express the message of equality and inclusivity while celebrating the festive spirit of Ganesh Utsav. A total of six students from both programs participated, showcasing their artistic talent and social awareness through thoughtful and impactful posters. The event was judged by Ms. Harita Gurav, Assistant Professor- Thakur School of Architecture and Planning (TSAP), who appreciated the creativity, effort, and originality displayed by the participants.
After evaluation, the winners were declared as Pragati Patel (MMS), securing first position, and Divya Vishwakarma (MMS), securing second position. All participants were awarded e-certificates, and the winners received cash prizes in recognition of their achievement. The competition was coordinated by Ms. Patricia Lemos, Assistant Professor- TIMSR, along with the members of the Social Responsibility Cell. Overall, the competition concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation, reflecting the institute’s commitment to fostering social responsibility and cultural values among students.
