Dr. Harish Kumar S. Purohit is the Director of Thakur Institute of Management Studies & Research, where he leads the institute’s vision for curriculum, accreditation, faculty development, and industry engagement. With over 32 years of experience across academia, administration, industry, and research, Dr. Purohit combines deep subject knowledge with practical, real world insights. He holds a Ph.D. in Management, an MMM in Marketing from NMIMS, and a B.Sc. in Physics with Computer Programming.

Dr. Purohit previously held leadership roles at reputed management institutes and served with MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd.), contributing research on commodity markets and participating in a UNCTAD funded project. He has delivered packaging solutions to major corporates such as Reliance, L&T, Mahindra, Tata Motors, Raychem, Bayer among others and facilitated high impact corporate interactions of students with leaders such as Ratan Tata, Keshub Mahindra, Sajjan Jindal and Dr. Verghese Kurien. He has organised numerous national and international conferences, workshops, and training programmes and is a sought after keynote speaker and panellists.

Dr. Purohit has served as a former Member of the Board of Colleges and University Development (BCUD) and the Ad-hoc Board of Studies in Management at the University of Mumbai, where he was instrumental in revising the MMS syllabus in Marketing. A recognised Ph.D. guide who has supervised three doctoral scholars, he has also served as an external examiner for M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes and executed academic and administrative audits across leading institutions. He has acted as Convenor and Member of Local Inquiry Committees for affiliation matters and minor research projects and was a leading as Lead Cluster College for management institutes, driving collaboration and quality enhancement across the cluster.

He has authored 21+ research papers in SCOPUS/UGC CARE and peer reviewed journals on topics ranging from consumer behaviour and AI in management to ESG and supply chain. His work has been recognized with awards such as Outstanding Contribution to Education (2015), 23rd Business School Affair & Dewang Mehta National Education Awards, and Best Director of the Year (2018), Computer Society of India.
