Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX)

TIMSR’s Finance Department organized a visit to the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX), Andheri East for the Finance specialization students of MMS Semester-III, (Batch 2024–26) on 25th August 2025 and 3rd September 2025. The objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the functioning of commodity markets, enhance their knowledge of trading mechanisms, and build investor awareness.

 

During the visit, a session on “Insights into MCX: Commodity Trading and Investor Awareness” was also conducted by Mr. Anish Vyas, Assistant Manager – Training and Education (MCX), who shared in-depth insights on commodity exchanges, trading platforms, regulatory frameworks, and risk management. This session aimed to bridge classroom concepts with industry practices while highlighting potential career opportunities in financial markets.

Students actively participated in discussions on market dynamics, portfolio diversification, and the role of commodities in global trade. The resource person emphasized informed decision-making and financial discipline as key aspects of successful trading. The session was coordinated by Dr. Charu Upadhyaya, Dr. Megha Sharma, Ms. Lata Poojari, Mr. Gunwant Awasthi, and Ms. Patricia Lemos, with a total participation of 102 students. The visit concluded with key learnings, including a deeper understanding of the commodity market ecosystem, investor protection measures, and ethical trading practices. Overall, the experience was highly enriching and aligned academic learning with real-world industry insights.
