Regulatory and Ethical Issues in Valuation

TIMSR organized a Guest Session on “Regulatory and Ethical Issues in Valuation” for the students of MMS Semester-III (Batch 2024-26) on 27th September. The session was conducted by Mr. Mahendra Salunke, Company Secretary at Mahindra Sona Limited, who shared valuable insights into the legal laws and regulatory provisions governing corporate valuation. The session also included key sections of the Companies Act such as the role of Registered Valuers under Section 247, SEBI regulations, the Income Tax Act of 1961, FEMA and RBI guidelines. Further, Mr. Salunke explained how these legal frameworks collectively regulate valuation practices to ensure fairness, transparency and safeguard stakeholder interests.

He also emphasized the importance of ethics in valuation, highlighting honesty, integrity, and responsibility as core values and illustrated the concepts through practical examples. Overall, the session was highly informative and helped students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the statutory requirements and professional standards essential for their career readiness in valuation roles.
