Viraj Profiles Pvt. Ltd. – Fastener Plant
The Operations Department of Thakur Institute of Management Studies & Research (TIMSR) organised an industrial visit to Viraj Profiles Pvt. Ltd. – Fastener Plant, Boisar on 26th September 2025 for the MMS (Operations) Semester III students of Batch 2024–26, coordinated by faculty members Mr. Mahendra Daima and Ms. Kinjal Shah. The visit aimed to familiarise students with end-to-end manufacturing processes of stainless-steel fasteners, covering production planning, scheduling, materials handling, quality systems, and global supply chain practices. During the guided plant tour, students observed various processes including raw material handling, forging, machining, threading, heat treatment, surface finishing, and packaging, while interacting with the operations and quality control teams who explained the application of automation, Kaizen, and TPM practices for
efficiency improvement, along with compliance to international quality standards for global exports. A dedicated Q&A session further enabled students to clarify concepts related to production scheduling, supply chain integration, and workforce management. The visit provided first-hand exposure to industrial-scale operations, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world practices, and enhanced student understanding of production systems, quality inspection, and logistics integration. Overall, the industrial visit proved to be a valuable learning experience that enriched students’ conceptual knowledge, gave them insights into the global competitiveness of Indian manufacturing, and motivated them to apply operations management principles in practical contexts.
